Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeet Purohit was born at Mahasamund, Chattishgarh. He graduated in Humanities in 1998 and obtained his Degree in Law in 2001 from Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. Pursuing academic excellence alongside his practice, he later completed Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M.) in International Human Rights in 2014 from the same University. Following his enrolment as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Rajasthan in July 2001, His Lordship began his professional career under the guidance of various legal luminaries of the time, gaining first-hand experience across diverse areas of law. During a distinguished practice spanning nearlytwo and a half decades, His Lordship appeared before Rajasthan High Court at Jodhpur, District Courts, and various Tribunals. His expertise encompassedConstitutional, Civil, Labour, Service, and Environmental Laws. Throughout his professional journey, he represented several prominent organizations as Panel Lawyer and Legal Advisor, including IIT Jodhpur, IIM Udaipur, AIIMS Jodhpur, RIICO, State Bank of India, United India Insurance Company, Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd., and Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. His Lordship also represented Union of India as Central Government Standing Counsel and Senior Panel Counsel, eventually holding the office of Assistant Solicitor General of India at Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur. His Lordship’s passion for the environment transcends traditional litigation, marked by a proactive role in shaping national policies. A consistent participant in environmental discourse, he providedlegal insights to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and various Parliamentary Standing Committeesregarding legislative amendments and policy decisions. Furthermore, he represented MoEF&CC before National Green Tribunal and Rajasthan High Court. His Lordship has also authored the book "Commentary on National Green Tribunal Act, 2010". His commitment to global environmental advocacy is further reflected in his participation in international symposia on climate change and sustainable development across Japan, the USA, Colombia, Abu Dhabi, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Guided by the principle of "Social Legal Equilibrium," His Lordship founded "LIBRA INDIA," a not-for-profit organization focused on sustainable development and the empowerment of marginalized communities.Through this initiative, he spearheaded pro-bono public interest litigation and organized legal awareness campaigns for underprivileged groups. Prior to his elevation to the Bench, His Lordship also contributed to the welfare of legal profession and served as ‘General Secretary’ of the Rajasthan High Court Lawyers' Association, Jodhpur, from 2007 to 2009. His Lordship took oath as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on 23 July, 2025. |
