Did his graduation from Government College for Men Chandigarh and after obtaining Post-Graduation in English obtained degree of LL.B from the University Campus of Punjab University. Had upbringing at Chandigarh. Was Editor of Punjabi Section of College Magazine 'Vikas' and was awarded various prizes for literary contributions in stories and essay writing. Enrolled as an Advocate on July 30, 1982. Started his professional career from Chambers of late Sardar Dara Singhji, Senior Advocate and mainly concentrated on criminal side. Was appointed Additional Advocate General, Government of Punjab from April 1997 to December 1998. In that capacity handled cases of Service Law and Sales Tax. Was also member of Guest Faculty, Department of Law, Punjab University for the Academic Session 1990-91. Due to professional engagements declined reappointment as member of Guest Faculty in Department of Law, Punjab University. Subsequently was designated as Senior Advocate for Punjab and Haryana High Court on 26.02.2007 and was later elevated as Additional Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court on 5.12.2007. On 1.7.2009, became permanent Judge. Transferred to the High Court at Calcutta and took oath as Judge there w.e.f. 19.4.2012. Transferred to the High Court of Judicature for Rajasthan and took oath as Judge w.e.f. 18.04.2013.
